Prayer Guide for CBF in China Team

July              July
Pray for summer volunteer English teachers. They go with the hope of sharing not just American culture and English lessons, but their lives and one who can make a difference. Pray for their health, travel safety, lesson preparations, and students.

August          August
Pray that career personnel Bill & Michelle Cayard and Brenda Lisenby continue to develop language and culture proficiency and plan for effective partnerships with local schools, churches, organizations, and governments.

September   September
Pray for our year-long teachers as they settle into new living and working routines and get to know students and colleagues: Don & Karen Barnes, Jacquelyn Franklin, Glen Herrington, Jeanette Lochner.

October        October
Handicapped and orphan children are among the marginalized in China. CBF has been asked by orphanages and schools for children with special needs to provide funds and volunteers to support this growing service network. Physical therapists of all kinds, early childhood specialists, and specialists in pediatric medicine and nursing are needed for short and long term.

November    November
Pray for CBF Global Service Corp personnel, Laura Barton as she explores establishing a viable CBF presence in China for development work among the rural poor.

December    December
Christmas! Churches in China give multiple performances to packed sanctuaries that tell the good news of Jesus' birth and allow local brothers and sisters to celebrate Jesus through their praises and skits. Pray that seeds will be planted and many will begin to seek God.

January        January
Spring Festival! Pray for Chinese families as they come together to celebrate, that they will have peace and joy in their homes. Pray for churches that use this holiday time to plan special activities and services to invite family and friends to church that normally would not come.

February       February
Pray for the Asian Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary. CBF has been asked to provide short term theology professors and part-time office staff. The ABGTS is an important part of strengthening indigenous Baptist churches in Asia.

March            March
Pray for indigenous leadership in Provincial Bible schools and lay training centers. Programs such as Guangxi Christian Council Lay Training Program provide 40 rural workers with 9 months of training each year. CBF and others partner with GXCC and other Provincial Christian Councils to make this program a reality. Pray for CBF personnel Brenda Lisenby as she continues to coordinate Guangxi partnerships.

April               April
Pray for Amity Foundation, Amity Printing Press, and Amity Christian Arts Center, organizations established by Christians with the purpose of promoting understanding of Christianity in their society. Evangelism is the responsibility of the church, but Amity plays a supporting role by providing a way for Christ's love to be lived out among the Chinese people in a culturally acceptable manner. May                May
Pray for the China Christian Council, a national organization for local churches. The CCC advocates on the behalf of local churches to the central government and represents them abroad. Pray for CCC leadership as they strengthen seminaries and lay training programs, foster positive relationships within China and among the international religious community, and realize the religious freedoms granted in the Chinese constitution.

June                June
Pray for our Chinese partners: universities, local Christian Councils, local governments, non-governmental organizations. Pray that our motives are understood and that our service is well received. Pray that we learn from them, and that we are not always the giver, but the receiver as well.
